How a Cancer makes friends
Cancer builds friendship through care. They notice who looks alone, who had a rough day, who needs a lift home. Adult friendship for them is chosen family — small, warm, and loyal.
New cities are hard because their old nest is elsewhere. Rebuild with recurring soft rooms: a parents' group, a faith community, a cooking circle, a book club that actually talks about feelings (not only plot).
Do this week: Return to the same low-pressure group twice. After the second visit, invite one person for a quiet one-on-one — tea, not a club.
If you're a Cancer who over-gives, practice receiving: let someone else host, let someone else text first.
How to befriend a Cancer
Be gentle and consistent. Check in after big life moments. Share something real about yourself so they don't feel like the only emotional labourer.
Respect their need to leave early or skip loud nights. Offer home hangs, walks, and small dinners. Never mock their softness — it's the glue of the friendship.
When they open up, treat it as precious. Gossip or flakiness ends things fast.
Social superpower
Creates emotional safety so people actually open up.
Social blind spot
Can retreat into a shell before asking for what they need.
